The primary responsibility of an engineer regarding public welfare is to ensure safety and quality in their work. This ethical obligation stems from the understanding that engineering practices directly impact the health, safety, and well-being of the public and the environment. Engineers are tasked with designing and implementing systems, products, and processes that must perform reliably and safely under expected conditions. By prioritizing safety and quality, engineers play a crucial role in preventing harm and enhancing the quality of life for individuals and communities.
